Self-Coaching Guide: How to Get Unstuck

This self-coaching guide was created to help you see how to get unstuck. We’ve all been there. When life is not in flow and instead it feels like you’re moving through molasses or attached to a rubber band that keeps snapping you back every time you try to move forward. We hear you! This guide is aimed at helping you diagnose what’s happening and take a step in the right direction to create momentum and movement toward better.

This self-coaching guide has three parts.

  • The first part is a 1-minute breathing and affirmation exercise to help you become present and create space in the mind.
  • Then you will answer the question prompts with the first answers that come to mind.
  • Lastly, you have free journaling time to reflect on your answers and move into action.

 

Begin:

BREATH: To begin we are going to slow everything way down, starting with our breathing. This is an important part of gaining access to your own insight.

Close your eyes and take 3 DEEP breaths. Breath in counting to 4, hold your breath for 4 and breath out, slowly, counting to 7. Do this three times.

AFFIRM: Say this out loud “The truth of what I’m seeking is within me and I access it now freely without judgment as this is a stepping stone toward creating what I want.”

ANSWER: Answer these questions with the first answers to come to mind. Let them flow and be heard… there is no right answer. Your answers will reflect where you are today, at this moment. See what you can learn from what comes to you. If you find it hard to answer a question ask yourself, “If I knew the answer what would I say?”

The act of writing is important. Write the answers down to these questions, even if it’s on a napkin… pen to paper forces articulation and gets you out of your mind’s negotiation with itself.

Open Journaling

Who is responsible for you being stuck? Is it yourself or someone else? What if other people could never keep you stuck, that you had the power, always, to get yourself unstuck? What can you do to empower yourself to get unstuck?
